Community Veterinary Center (CVC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3)organization whose mission is to provide quality comprehensive and compassionate veterinary care to the animals of low income caregivers; reduce animal overpopulation through affordable spay/neuter programs; and promote responsible animal care through education, preventive medicine, and community outreach. When CVC becomes operational, it will serve all of Lane County and will be headquartered in Eugene/Springfield. The board of Pro-Bone-O enthusiastically supports CVC. It is the next, and very needed, step in providing care to pets of low- and no-income families who have no other veterinary resources available to them. Initially the clinic will be open three days per week offering basic veterinary services, including high volume spay/neuter surgeries, wellness/preventive care, and basic surgical and medical care for sick animals. As funding allows, CVC will become a full service clinic open five days per week offering more in-depth surgical and diagnostic procedures. How will CVC affect Pro-Bone-O? Pro-Bone-O actively supports CVC; in fact, one of our board members sits on its board as well. When CVC is up and running, Pro-Bone-O will begin referring our clients to CVC and eventually, CVC will serve all of them. At that point, Pro-Bone-O will no longer be needed and will be able to close its doors and continue to offer assistance through CVC. This truly will be a win-win situation; it will replace, but continue, Pro-Bone-O’s excellent work in the community; and will allow the pets who receive services through CVC to lead healthier lives.
